This guide will take you through each step of planning an unforgettable and really green event tips, and the fun of making DIY candles.
Why Host A Sustainable Candle Workshop?
Why should we know how? Before we look at how, let us talk about why. Paraffin wax conventional candles are products of petroleum and produce hazardous chemicals when they are lit. By selecting our sustainable workshops regarding natural materials, you are:
- Adding to the Healthier Homes: Natural waxes such as soy burn cleaner.
- Helping the Environment: You are lessening your dependence on fossil fuels, and in some cases, sustainable farming is supported.
- Making a Meaningful Experience: This is a tactile task that produces a functional, beautiful end product that all the students can take home.
Supply Your Sustainable Supplies
- The products, namely the materials in your eco-friendly candle party, are, of course, the heart of it. The selection of the right components will make your event truly green as well.
- The Wax: Use 100 percent soy natural wax candles. Soy wax candles are biodegradable, renewable, and they burn longer and cleaner than paraffin. It also makes a great carrier of fragrance, so your compositions will smell great as well. To find encouragement, take a look at our all-natural Classic Jar Candles.
- The wicks: Go with cotton or wood wicks. Do not use wicks made with a metal core that may contain lead or other metals.
- Fragrance: No phthalates, use quality fragrance oils or, to be natural, essential oils.
Vessels: get imaginative. Find special, old, one-of-a-kind tins, jars, or glasses at the thrift store. See how your guests can bring their own clean, empty containers.
Learn to make your candles.
A few preparations are what you need to have a smooth and sustainable workshops. Move the pouring in one station to prevent spills.
- Melting: Melt the soy wax in a double boiler, so as not to destroy the wax, and do not forget to stir it. Melt no wax by direct heat.
- Prepping Vessels: Attach the Wicks: The wicks should sit at the bottom of the vessel with the help of a dab of hot glue or a wick sticker. Put a clothespin or a chopstick on the top to keep the wick in the middle.
- Incorporating Scent: When the wax has melted and is a bit cooled (to about 135°F), add your fragrance oil. This will be the most fun step, have guests combine and mingle some scents to make their blended scent.
- Pouring: Put the scented wax into the prepared vessels in a careful way.
- Curring: After letting the candles steep, the candles should be left undisturbed for at least 24 to 48 hours. Waiting is the most difficult.
Green Event Tips on Decor and Ambiance
The aesthetic of your party can show the eco-consciousness of your party brand.
- Use Natural Decor: Add nature-based decorations to the table, such as natural flowers that are dried, eucalyptus, fallen trunks, and stones.
- Reusable Everything: Eliminate one-off plastics. Use serviettes, real plates and forks, and glasses instead of plastic.
- Mood Lighting: When the sun goes down, burn some of the already-made soy wax candles to display their attractive, smokeless flame.
- Eco-friendly Packaging: Provide the guests with matches made out of paper instead of plastic, or use the non-plastic alternative.
